Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

My neighbor threatned to call CPS on me just because my ds is doing chores pretty much night and day

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

It's spring break for him (he's 12) and last week I gave him a list of about 100 chores to do. He has all the time in the world to do them and he doesn't even have to do most of them if he doesn't want to, but I said I'd pay him 5-20 bucks for all the different ones.

He just wants this xbox thing and 2 games that cost a ridiculous amount so he's working almost night and day, a lot of time in the yard or on the house.

Now my neighbor just came over and said she knows what I've been doing and she's going to call CPS on me for child slave labor!

What do I Do? Is she crazy or do I stop him from doing so much?

yeah this, and he can tell her HE is earning himself something he wants, and is showing responsiblity by taking initiative to be productive, rather than destructive.  Have him ask her how many kids his age are out running the streets, getting into trouble because they dont' have loving parents like his are, and parents that are concerned about values and morals too?  I don't think you'll have a problem at all with cps using this technique.

Quoting shellyplatz:

If she does call he is plenty old enough to explain why he is working hard.

Let the kid explain to her what he is doing. CPS will not do anything about chores for earning something= that is good parenting.

Let her, then when CPS does nothing about it let your neighbor see him (Jokingly) doing something really hard. Like maybe digging a large hole and tell her he's digging you a moat to keep nosy bitches like her away.

LOL Stupid twit. There is no "Child Labor Law" when it is your child being made to do chores. For people to waste CPS's time like this? It SHOULD be criminal.

It's funny that people want to call CPS on you for being a good parent. Making your 12 year old work for somthing he wants. Yeah, that sounds like abuse. lol.

Tell her to fuck off and threaten to call the police if she harrasses you again.

Oh geez, CPS wouldn't do a thing! He's doing work for some money. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. You should have told the neighbor that he is earning money and choosing what he does or doesn't want to do. You're doing him a favor by having him work hard for something he wants.
