  • A gift for a child's birthday party?
  • A baby shower gift?
  • A bridal shower gift?
  • A wedding gift?

I have a lot of these events coming up this spring/summer; some for close friends, some for acquaintances.I hate to be cheap, but since becoming a SAHM money is much tighter these days. Just curious to hear what other people spend.

Baby Shower -  In general $100 (unless it's a very close friend or family)

Bridal Shower - $100 (again unless it's a close friend or family)

gift for other people children ~~ no more than $20. I'm a bargain shopper. When I see something that a good deal I might buy 2 or 3 and put away for when needed.

A baby shower ~~ $40 to $200. Depends on who the shower is for.

Bridal shower ~~~ $50 to $150. Again if its relative we give more.

Wedding gift ~~ $100 to $300 relatives get more again.

On baby, bridal and wedding I usually buy off the registry.

Well ideally I coupon a lot. So I have lots of baby supplies sitting around I got for cheap or even free. I could piece together a basket of baby supplies pretty easily for a shower. So all under $5-$10. I hit walmart's clearance isles for toys real cheap. At or under $20? For a bridal shower I don't really know what I'd get. But I'm sure there's a way to do it cheap but nicely. For a wedding present again look for appliances or bedding or whatever that's been marked down. You're still getting nice name brand stuff but much cheaper. Thing is for the more common occasions you look year-round and have a stock pile to go to when needed. I have several bath gift sets from Christmas I for at 75% off.

Child's birthday usually $10 for a school friend.  Baby shower $25 for someone I'm acquainted with, $50-100 for a close friend or family member.  Bridal shower, $25-50.  Wedding gift, $50 for an acquaintance, $100 for family.

Depends on how close the person is to me.  An aquaintance I spend about $100.  A good friend I can spend significantly more.

Child's bd $20
Baby shower $20/30
Bridal shower $30
Wedding $30

Try this for baby showers http://www.diydonedirtcheap.com/2011/06/baby-shower-diaper-cake.html?m=1

Wedding showers I usually buy the colander from their registry. Some cooking spoons and add kitchen towels and mitts from dollar tree. Jar of sauce and 2 boxes of thin spagetti. Makes nice gift basket

Make things instead of buying. Last shower I made an afghan cost $20 in yarn.
