I was wondering how common it is to get paid maternity leave in the US these days. Neither of my jobs offer paid leave.
I got 6 weeks--3 at full pay, and 3 at half-pay.
I didn't have paid leave. But I could use my vacation and sick leave to cover the time off.
If you have been employeed for 12 months, you should be covered under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). It allows you to take off 12 weeks (paid or unpaid) and your job is protected. You can't be fired.
