Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

They wanted me to "break" her

I work at an evangelistic church. Yesterday a woman knocked on the door, she wasn't a church member. She was about 50 years old and was hysterically crying. Apparently her sister and her got in to a fight and she kicked her out. So she was homeless.

I brought her in, gave her some coffee and called my friends whom I know work at the shelter. They got her a room until next week when she planned to go back to California.

I told my pastors and they FREAKED out. I swear you would have thought I killed a person.

They told me I should have let her suffer until she confessed she was a sinner and her sins got her here.

The lady was already saved, had been baptized, and everything but they wanted her to suffer.

I feel different about this church now. I just stated working here and switched my family over but I am feeling off.

I was raised baptist and I know my old church would never ever treat a person like that. Is this normal for this denomination?

Kinda, southern Baptists can be kinda judgey pants. My church will be very friendly to you but if you have any bad secrets they'll gossip to hell and back about you.

I was a baptist and that wouldn't have happened in my church, we did the wwjd? thing.  Pretty sure Jesus wouldn't have busted her balls.
