Spin off from an abortion thread.

How many who are pro-choice view a human fetus as a parasite?

When does it stop becoming a parasite, since a new born is pretty much helpless as well?

When my daughter was born, my friends had an ice cream cake delivered to the hospital that said, "Congratulations on the transition from endo to ecto parasite"

Best gift ever.

Technically, yes it is. But I would never refer to a baby that way.

Yes. By definition, a fetus is a parasite. It needs the mother's body to grow and live, to provide blood, oxygen, and nurishment. Once it is born, it's body takes over those processes. It still needs help, but it keeps it's basic body functions going on its own.

 Sure, technically speaking.

It's no longer a parasite when it's born and the cord is cut.

Yes.  I'm almost nine months pregnant and have yet to refer to it as a "baby."
It kind of... I dunno... Weirds me out to call it a baby.

ok so i am pro life, but in all scientific terms yes the baby is a parasite

So far we are at 75% yes... one of the no votes is mine, but it doesn't count because I'm not pro-choice.

This really astounds me.  I know many preachers who said a result of abortion would be that we would dehumanize our babies... I guess they are absolutely right...unless most pro-choice people think it's ridiculous to view a fetus as a parasite.

By definition, yes it is. A fetus is a parasite until it has the ability to survive on it's own without it's host.
