White families often adopt black children

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

But do black families ever adopt white children?

White families often adopt asian children?

do asains ever adopt white babes?

This was something a group of us were discussing the other day. We came to the conclusion that we've never seen anyone other than white families adopting white babies. But we couldn't come to a solid reason why?

That I believe. Obviously there is still rampant racism in this country.

I've read that it is easier for Black families to adopt black kids. It's hard for a black family to adopt of other races. Especially Asian. I've researched it a lot because I want to adopt.

I know a black family that adopted a mixed race daughter. Doesn't really answer your question but it is one example.

i dont know but i don't like it becuase white people can't fully teach black kids about the black culture.

Not really.

If you are willing ot adopt outside of your own race, even with an at birth placement, doors are opened considerably; whereas if you specify "white, good health" you are going to wait possibly years. That, to me, would infer (God, I mean no offense here, so please take none, lol) that there are more children who aren't Caucasian up for adoption (on any level - at birth or foster placements).

Quoting Anonymous:

Adopting an older child from foster care and adopting at birth are completely different things.

Quoting AutymsMommy:

No, there really aren't.

We were pondering adopting a child from foster care at some point.

When I look on my state's website of available children, 90% aren't Caucasian and for those who are Caucasian, about 50% of them are significantly disabled; the other 50% much old (teens) or admitted behavioural problems.

Quoting Anonymous:

Thats silly, of course there are.

Quoting inspain:

As far as I know, no.  But there really aren't as many white children available as black children, right?

I believe that I have seen the village and I do not want it anywhere near my children. Now for the controversial stuff: we have traditional gender roles, we're Catholic, I'm Libertarian, he's Republican, we're both conservative, and we own guns (now there's no need to ask, lol).             Aimee

My sister has looked into adoption. She could literally adopt a minority child through DFCS within a few months. She was told that the process could take years for a white child. Even through a very expensive private adoption.

4 moms liked this

So what should happen to African American children needing a home when there aren't enough African American families willing or wanting to adopt? Let them rot in the system? Don't be ridiculous. They deserve to be loved too - if they learn less about black culture because of it, so be it; it's better than sitting in foster care until they age out.

White babies are insane high demand. Other race babies are in lower demand. It makes sense that a white couple who would prefer a white infant but doesn't want to wait years would become more flexible and simply adopt a healthy newborn. It also makes sense that a couple of another race who could adopt a baby who looks more like them quicker and easier would go that route.

Well yea there are some stigmas... It is extremely hard for black women to adopt from China now because there was ONE lady who killed her daughter she adopted from there then killed herself I believe. I just hate that one person or group of people places stereotypes and stigmas on an entire race.

There is still significant income stratification by gender and race/ethnicity. This is not to be controversial. You can verify it using census data.

Quoting Anonymous:

The cost? do you think minorities maybe don't have the same financial means as the white population?

Quoting peanutsmommy1:

The cost of adoption? Statistically there are more AA children in foster care?
