3 for my kids. My boys knew if they held the carriage on the side,they would be rewarded after the shopping trip.

My kids are 3 and 4 and sit in the cart.

I dunno, like 6, I guess. Unless it's a wirey six-year-old and he/she needs the containment of the cart to keep from dashing away (I can see my son being that kid *sigh*)

They should never be in the back, so once they get to age 3 then it's time to walk.

The carts have a weight limit of 35lbs most places for the seat.  It is written on them.  I didn't realize there was a weight limit until recently and now see it everywhere I shop.

I put my 6 yr old dd in the cart she's a little energetic peanut and I would rather her in the cart than acting up.


Ok bring it on I'm ready to be bashed about being a lazy parent.

Ill put my 2 yo and 6 yo in a cart so I can get in and out of the store. They don't move as fast as mommy. :P

my kids were never allowed to sit in the back as its dangerous....but the front I would say four or five depending on the age of the child....my DD is 5 but really tiny so if she wants I still let her sit in the front but she usually likes to walk.
