is this good business decision a bad parenting decision

4 wk project by Dubai
Could turn into 6 weeks if needed
Could then turn into a year if chosen for the contract

My son is 6, very capable father
I get to return every month for a few days and i get a few odd weeks of vacation
Paid everything and if contracted its a near 6 figure deal plus i can work from my hotel with my regular job

But that leaves me to be a visitor to my child. But to do the 4 week deal i have to sign a year contract, so does my team.

Its just a hard decision

Why can't he come? I couldn't leave my children.

If it extends into the year, then you could always take him with every once in a while so you aren't absent for a whole year.   Take a nanny if you don't have other options?

I honestly couldn't do that at all... but I can't see myself out of my kids lives for even 4 weeks.

It's no longer than the year-long unaccompanied tours that a lot of military families do (Dubai, Japan, Korea, etc.). And with a lot more visits! If it's a good opportunity for your family, I say go for it.

Make sure you have a male driver and escort.. and I'd wear a Hijab, no crosses. if I was you.

I loved Dubai, but there are rules you will have to follow as a female. If you can get past all that its lovely there. and omg the shopping is fantastic. I love many aspects of the life style there. It's a shame your child can't go with you. There are some excellent schools there, greatt way for him to learn Farsi and different Arab dialects.  he's at the perfect age to easily learn. There are also private run "American" schools that teach both standardized American and middle eastern curriculum's there also.

While the middle east might be in turmoil, there are some safe countries / states to visit while there, If you can afford to take some cash to spend. The food, well I'll just say I'm Drooling (wishing I was going back too) I also got a magnificent rug in Turkey, it cost me 5000.00 and 800 to ship but back here it is worth over 85,000 easy.

And clothes "yummy" silks and cashmere and such CHEAP!!!

I was over there 8 months with my LH and children. I wish I could return for another visit. I still skype and chat with dear friends from there.

Some times you just have to punt the ball.

So you think the schools are good enough to be worth putting my son in even just summer school? He knows Arabic, but if love to learn Farsi with him as well
