8/4(1+2)=?

8/4 is division for those of you who are confused............

HINT: Parentheses outrank exponents, which outrank multiplication and division (but multiplication and division are at the same rank), and these two outrank addition and subtraction (which are together on the bottom rank). When you have a bunch of operations of the same rank, you just operate from left to right

ANSWER: The reason people are getting this wrong is becasue they are putting too much thought into it. PEMDAS is the order of operations but when it comes to division and multiplication they are equal rank which means you do whichever comes first in the problem. if you go by the PEMDAS exactly you will get 2/3 but if you remember the general rules you will get the correct answer whih is 6.
