First birthday gifts

So Dd will be turning one on May 1st. I wasnt planning to make a huge deal out of it, just a cake and a couple gifts. When I told my sister what I was planning on getting she basically said that I am cheap and that I dont love her. I mean she is a baby, she doesnt care and has more fun playing with a box. So do you think these two things are adequate gifts for a one year old?

I can't stand that dog toy. It creeps me out. However DD got that tea set when she was around 1, and still plays with it. She is 3 now.

Definetly. A cake and some toys are all we do for the first two years. Then we took our boy to Going Bonkers the last two years which he absolutely LOVED.

Those are perfectly acceptable gifts.

We got my DD the teapot when she turned one too!

In vain he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Thanks ladies. I thought so too but that woman has a way with guilt trips.

I'm getting my daughter a doll and a shopping cart. I'm throwing a party too, but nothing crazy, just a bbq in the park. The teapot is super cute. All 3 of my kids love to play with it.
