For those of you that do not have health insurance, what is your reason?

How do you plan to pay  when something bad happens to your health or you get hurt? Health insurance is not optional. Your life can and WILL fall apart when something happens. Have any of you looked into the new plan yet(Obamas) to see what your premiums will be? I pay $1000 a month to my private plan, and can think of many other things I could do with that money, but I would never go without health insurance.

yes, we do.  It is just awful.  It is through dh's job too.  There are other plans available. Next fall when we can change I will be looking into that.

Because they want $280 a month and I can barely buy food.

I thought ours was high, it's 600 dollars a month for self employed insurance but we do get a small break for the company he is contracted through.

Simple. We cannot afford it. I can be healthy and homeless or have a place to live and take the risk something might happen. I get insurance through DH's work on about a year though, so if I can make it that long I'm golden.

lol, do you really want to know why?  There is a reason premiums are so high these days.  Who do you think picks up the tab when the uninsured get sick? It is against the law to turn people down in ERs.  Someone is paying for that.

Money is a big factor...and the fact they won't touch me with a ten foot pole.

Why would you care about others? Are you angry you pay so much?
