Can my boss fire me while on medical leave?

I've been on medical leave, I've had 2 surgeries and I'm not due to be medically released for another month, my 2nd surgery was a little over a week ago. A friend of mine told me my boss fired me, I've tried calling her and she is refusing to take my calls. I'm thinking what I was told is true, she fired me. I live in an at will state. I'm sure she came up with some bs reason to justify her firing me. My dr told her it would be several months before I'd be released and she was ok with that. She promised me I'd be ok and that she wouldn't fire me. I thought it was illegal to fire someone while on medial leave?

Do you qualify for FMLA and did you fill out the proper paperwork for FMLA.

I did everything properly before I went on medical leave.

My question is this as well

Under FMLA they have to bring you back to a job that is the same pay but I don't know about the firing...

Do you live in a right to work state?

The state I live in you can be fire over anything and it's fine.

I'm not sure how medical leave works into that but I'm guessing she's within her rights. I had a friend who was fired during her pregnancy leave because she wanted to take more unpaid leave. I didn't think that was right either.

Call an employment attorney and see what they say. I don't think they can if you went out on fmla.

If you have run out of FMLA, I'm pretty sure they can.

Did you call your boss to see if it was true? That would have been my first step!

She probably was. Crappy that she couldn't even bother to notify me.
