Their ?$&*@! money grubbing wedding is tomorrow!!!! **ETA**

I have a cousin who never comes to any birthday parties or events I invite him to, I went to his son's birthday party last year but when I invited him to my son's birthday he didn't RSVP or show up. (He "was in a parade" so he didn't come, neither did my Aunt, Uncle or my other cousin with her kids) As a matter of fact I haven't seen my cousin face to face in over a year and a half because we just have different lifestyles. Well the problem is I was invited to his wedding tomorrow which seems to be all about the money. They are having it on a Friday, they had a Jack and Jill greenback shower so no gift registry to choose from, it's a cash bar, choice of chicken or fish...you get the idea. Well I am strapped for cash too. Times are tough right now and we are trying to take care of 4 kids on one income. It is a no kids reception so my husband is already staying home with our 2 year old so one of us can go to the wedding at all.

I just want to know, is it inappropriate to only give a card because I cannot afford a monetary gift or does anyone have any suggestions for a nice gift I can get today for 20 dollars or under? Anyone see anything on Pinterest?

I already said I would go. Any good excuses people can't argue with?

If you can't afford it a card is fine.

Sad to say, because in all honesty it should NOT be about money... but, if I couldn't afford to give a decent amount of cash (at least $100 for a wedding) I wouldn't go...

I wouldnt go if u cant afford a gift. Its tacky to give a card empty....i have stayed home for the same reason. Plus you arent close right?

Just dont show up. Tell them something came up and you couldnt go. You dont have to tell them specifics.
