Mom Confessions Mom Confessions

per se, NOT "per say"

Posted by   + Show Post

per se

/pər ˈsā/
Adverb

By or in itself or themselves; intrinsically: "it is not these facts per se that are important".

Please, FFS, get it right.

*Also:  "an" and "and" are not the same and are not interchangeable.

"AN ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"

"this AND that"

There was way too much of this nonsense today, I had to say something.

*Any other grammar aficionados make mistakes sometimes and then want to flog themselves for it?

LOL, guilty about per say- it's probably my reply you saw.  I'm usually really good with that one, but I don't think I have ever spelled out per se before. Opps, my apologies.

It's okay, you can still hang with us.  ;-)

Quoting Anonymous:

i know that many of my mistakes are simply from typing too quickly and not reading it all back.

my worse mistakes are when I type your instead of youre or their instead of there, or vise versa (vice versa, LOL).  I will spell check but spell check doesnt help with grammar

I knew someone who would say "la la" and would argue with you if you tried to correct her.

Quoting Diamepphyre:

Amen. Also, it's "voilá", not "walla" or "wah lah".

Ok I will!

Quoting inspain:

*sigh*

Fine.  You're excused.

But you really have to try harder.  I get a headache from crap like that!
