http://www.chicagoparent.com/magazines/web-only/2013-april/boston This is a site I was sent on how to talk to your children about bad things that happen like what happened in Boston. I just thought I would share it.... Will you be telling your children what happened? Does it effect you?

No. I don't see a reason to tell him.

They already know, they watch the news. I don't think it's healthy to shelter them from things that are happening in their world.

My children already know can't hide it from the computer savvy child. And honestly, I'm sort of numb to the thing, I have lost empathy for all things chaotic I think SandyHook was my tipping point.

Nope.  No reason to.  Can't learn anything from it.  Nothing good can possibly come from me telling them.

We didn't tell them about the Aurora theater shootings, either, and we drive by there at least four times a week.

They both know about it as I would rather they hear the facts from me than the rumors and un-truths.

We touched on it but I don't see a reason to scare them. If they have questions they will ask and they will be answered honestly.

Nope...my 7 yo is starting to run races with me and if I tell her this will scare her away from her goal. She is running her first race with me this weekend. My other dd is 4...she has no reason to know at her age.

They both know, they're teens.
