If a person has asperger's, are they considered autistic?

Yes it's high functioning autism.

When the DSM V comes out, aspbergers will actually no longer be a diagnosis, but as of now it is considered on the autism spectrum

So will the diagnosis only be autism of some degree? Seems like taking it out would eliminate a lot of confusion.

They are on the austism spectrum so yes they are considered autistic.
