Was my daughter in the wrong? can she sue us?

My neighbor asked my daughter (17) to babysit last night. However, my daughter is in cultural awareness club at her school, and they had a heritage night last night that my daughter had to attend. My daughter told the mom this and offered to bring the child along. Child's mom said it was fine and the child was excited.

At the event they were giving henna tattoos and face painting out for free. My daughter and her friends got one, so the child wanted one too. She had a henna design on her palm/arm and a cat face tattoo (small design on cheek). Kid LOVED it.

Well the mom just came over PISSED that her daughter would be tattooed without permission...Henna washes off in a week and the face tattoo washed off immediately.

I apologized on my daughters behalf (shes at school). The mom just said "You'll be hearing from my lawyer" and stormed home...

wtf? It was also not a matter of allergies as we asked prior to drop off about allergies.

The child is 9 btw

Henna can cause allergic reactions. I'd not go so far as suing, but I would be pissed if someone did that to my daughter without discussion or permission.

I would be upset too, but my kids know to call and ask before the do anything like that. But I don't see her having a case against you unless the child had an allergic reaction to the henna or something. She was prob just pissed.

For crying out loud.

I'd hand the woman a roll of bubble wrap and tell her that a child that stands still will be easier to maneuver.

What would be the reason for her lawsuit? Washable art crime?

I doubt it.

Unless she had a medical emergency because of henna this loud mom has nothing to rely on. It wasn't done maliciously and she was not harmed. I think you're ok.

Mom is over reacting. Let her contact her lawyer.
