co-sleepers, how on earth do you stay up late ever??

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

oh my goodness I want GROWNUP TIME... I mean, time to sit up and not have a child awake. But as long as I am awake, they are awake. I can not force my children to sleep. I can force them to go to bed, but not to actually sleep.

So how do other cosleepers do it?

My newborn is currently asleep in her crib. She had been in there for an hour. If i had wanted to go to bed an hour ago she would be in my bed with me. When she wakes up to eat in about 2 hours, df will change her and then she will be in my bed for the rest of the night.

We co-sleep and we both go to bed later than baby does. We spend alone time together then I get some mommy time or I stay up and finish work projects. Co-sleeping doesn't mean baby never sleeps without you or that you go to bed at the same time.

This is what I did. I took my bed apart and put my matress on the floor for a few months just incase she fell off ( she never once did but i'm a huge worry bug lol)

Rarely an issue, I put ds 17 months to bed. Get up and go have kid free time.

I used to lay in bed with DS until he fell asleep, then I got up. Now DS falls asleep on the couch or I will take him in if he is really tired and he falls asleep right away. i also have a 9 month old and nurse him to sleep, then if he wakes I pull him into bed...

Dh and I had a little vibrating rocking chair set up in our living room.  We were able to lay ds down in it to nap until we were ready to go to bed.  We're weening ds from sleeping with us, so now he's graduated to sleeping in his crib until we're ready to go to bed.

I lay in bed and snuggle her until she falls asleep, then I get back up.
