READ FIRST:

I do know some of these labels overlap, some quite a bit, such as southeast and deep south. But I differentiated them for a reason, since for example much of Florida is quite a bit different culturally than the "deep south" but fits right in with "southeast" as in coastal NC, SC, and some of coastal GA.

I would *personally* include Northern California into "Pacific Northwest" region, while Southern California is largely closer to "Southwest" region. Alaska gets its own region because it's just culturally too different to lump in with the northwest. I also distinguished between Pacific Northwest and Inland Northwest, since they're about as different culturally as New York City is from Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Pick whichever region you most identify with, even if you're temporarily outside it for military or other work or whatever. Wherever is "HOME" to your family.

Florida here and for corporal punishment when necessary, but not to hurt or beat the child, but discipline them. I don't believe in belts, paddles or using any objects, but spanking when need be.
