My dd is 11. I was running a few minutes late at the doctor and called the school to just have her walk home. She has a key.

Well. Dd forgot her key apparently because I got home 20 minutes after school dismissed and she's on the porch.

Then I get a knock on the door. From a cop. Apparently a teacher saw my dd sitting outside and called me in! The police wanted the name of my doctor and wanted to verify times then left.

Dd said it was Ms. Xxxxxx apparently she had saw dd situng there and asked if she was OK. Dd told her she was fine and Ms. Xxx asked if she wanted to sit in the car while she waited and dd said no. I guess she pulled in the drive..and dd said she was fine then backed out and waited by the fire hydrant and then went on when I pulled onto the street. I do remember seeing a silver suv now.

Seriously I have a headache now. So pissed. She will be 12 in two months for goodness sakes and it was 20 minutes. She should have had her key! It isn't like I do this all the time..today was a flukey thing.

Ahhhhh!

The cop didn't tell me he was leaving or anything so I'm assuming I'm good.

Dd told me who the teacher was..

An 11 year old is capable of sitting on the front porch for 20 minutes.

Right?

An 11 yr old shouldn't be home alone.

Not a big deal. No one but teacher pain in the butt thinks so. Do you know how many times I had to find an open window bc I got locked out at that age. I was a latch key kid for years, your DD is fine for half an hour.

Seriously? That teacher was way out of line. The kid is 12 years old! When I was 12, I was outside all the freakin time, walking half way across town to meet friends at a pizza place--whatever. If I forgot my key, and I had to wait outside for a bit--so be it.

I'm sorry OP :(.

Whenever life gets tough I just remember this..

The Water Temple.
