Every time I meet some one new, I say "Hi my name is mrs.xxx and then I put my hand out to shake hands. My dad always told me you can read people with a good hand shake. My dad was military so I met some very important people and I would get a dirty look from my dad if I didn't offer my hand.
So.. Am I the only one who still does this? Is shaking hands dead?
I am teaching my kids when they meet some one they offer their hand. It's up to the other person to shake back.

Everyone here shakes hands. Doctors and all kinds. Every time my kids see a new doctor they introduce themselves to my kids and to me. My kids have learned to shake hands and that it's polite

I shake a lot of hands but I work at a bank. Don't really do that in my personal life much.

I shake hands when first meeting people, I never realized no one does it anymore.  I haven't had anyone refuse a handshake.

I shook SD's friend's hand just last night ;)
Usually they go to shake DH's and depending on the person I get a shake. Idk why but I've always had a problem offering my hand first, I guess it's bc I'm not touchy unless I've known the person awhile... Then it's hugs!

I shake hands, but use my first name... Now, when I meet the step daughters bf, yes, I am Mrs. Xxxxxxx..... Until I say you can call me otherwise.
Growing up, adults didn't have first names, and if they did, usually a Ms. (for women) proceeded it. Men would be Mr. followed by a last name... I knew alot of Mrs as well.
For me, personally, I am okay with just my first name. One of my bff's with toddlers is teaching her girls to put Ms infront... That is okay. I let the parent decide how their child shall address me.
