Well that was an easy disagreement to win....how much is it where you are?

My SO moved in with me ...

And he wanted to go to the post office to get his mail forwarded to our address.

I couldn't figure out why he wanted to spend any money doing that , when he could just call the business's that he needs to and change it that way...

Yes , i am cheap lol.

So i finally just gave in ..said ok fine ...

We go to the post office and he asks how much the service is ...guy says for 6 months it is $50 , and for a year it is $90.

OUCH!

Needless to say ...he said thank you, turned around and walked right back out of the postal office...

I have to admit , that is a lot of money ...and i was thinking it was only going to be $30 ...

How much is it to get your mail forwarded in your city/town ? And do you bother with it , or do you just call everyone and switch the address yourself ?

* EDIT @ 8 Posts : I am in Canada ...but right now i wish i was in the states! FREE?? I agree with that , it should be free to use this service! lol *

I don't think there is any charge to change your address officially by the post office, but DH has always done that, not me.

Its free here. We just turn in a slip of paper with our new address.

I have never paid to have my address changed.  All I have ever done is filled out the change of address card and that was the end of it.  Most of the bills have a change of address form so I just fill that out as they come in.

I paid $1 to fill out the change of address form online. Mail is forwarded for 6 months free of charge. You are still responsible for updating your address with everyone though.
