Would you stand by your child's decision to be vegetarian?

My child wants to be vegetarian. Always loved animals and this does not surprise me. She cries at any cruelty to animals. My family thinks I should make her eat meat and even sneak meat into dishes without telling her. I talked to her doctor and he doesn't have an issue with it. Am I wrong to support this? My family says she's too young to know. She's 9.

Respect them. I don't force them to eat any foods, period, if they don't want to.

Let her, support her. I went vegetarian for a few months when I was her age. My choice ended with a crispy strip of bacon.
I think if you sneak meat to her in other foods you are begging for trust issues to develop.

I'd encourage it.

They already are for the most part.

Totally respect her decision, but make sure she eats balanced!

Yes. But my son is a carnivore. He loves meat. And so does my husband. So I doubt that would happen.

Uuugh.....I dread this....once my dd realizes where it comes from I'm 99% sure she's going all veg on me.

Support her and don't lie about ingredients. But don't let her dictate your diet too.

As long as you replace the meat with proteins from beans, lentils, eggs she should be fine. Discuss what new foods she may need to include in her new diet so she knows the meat needs replacements.

I would support her. One of my girls really hardly ever eats red meat. She just has never really liked it. I have no problem with it. I won't want to eat something I don't like.
