Got everything cleaned... Painted the walls... But there's carpet that we can't get new yet... Any advice for that?

About 5 years worth of not cleaning, crusted on food or drinks (says its chocolate milk). What's the best way to clean or without getting professionals or new carpet just yet?

Does anyone know the laws in Ohio, for rental units- how often apartment management has to change carpets? Every few years, or only when a tenant leaves?

The only thing I can see working is ripping them up and replacing them.
Some things just can't be cleaned.

Go to a store and rent a rug doctor

That's nasty to not have it replaced. Even nastier to not have professionals clean it if you're not going to replace it. *shudders*

I would, but we spent so much for paint, furniture, dump trunks, etc. at this point, the finances are depleted... But everything looks so nice.... except for the carpet. Which makes it all look bad. Lol

That stuff can soak all the way down to the carpet matting that they lay down right before the carpet. I think you really need to get new carpet. Indoor outdoor is cheap I think. Sorry. :( I am guessing a renter isn't going to want to pay for an icky nasty carpet.

I'm think a rental cleaner may be your best bet.

This. They are pretty cheap to rent.
