Land of the free?

Every year the Legatum Institute puts out a list of the best places to live using their prosperity index.
This year the United States was number 12 on that list.
What I found most surprising was that the US ranks 14th in Personal Freedoms. For a country that boasts about being the best and being free you sure aren't cutting it.

Top 5 in Personal Freedoms
1. Canada
2. New Zealand
3. Australia
4. Ireland
5. Sweden

It's true, America isn't the only (or the best) free nation in the world. No wonder the rest of them think we are arrogant.

There is no such place that offers total freedom, you have to find the place that works for you.  The United States works for me.

Yep, as an outsider I can definitely attest to that.

Most politicians in the US are too busy fighting each other to worry about personal freedoms.

I agree with this:

I'm not surprised. Go New Zealand! That's my home country. I live in Russia now and I can imagine they scored probably even lower than the US so...yeah I guess I shouldn't talk shit LOL!

A few months ago I read that New Zealand was #1.
