The brag post... *laughs out loud* (an Eff you post)

Posted by   + Show Post

So... here is the story.

For many years I have taught dance and hubby works with his parents in a development business plus real estate. At one point we were able to afford health insurance....

Then came the economy crash :( We are not the only people that had to move fast downgrading everything you worked hard for. We sold our house and downgraded into a rental, downgrading our budget, getting rid of things we couldn't afford, preparing for the worse financially. Let me tell you we moved fast!!!!

Three years of hell we went from making 75,000 a year to 45,000 a year. We were lucky we made 45,000 a year. On top of that back then health insurance was 680 a month and believe me thats a lot not including the 2 grand deductible. Sadly that had to go too because the amount we were making was just getting so low we couldnt afford it anymore. We cleaned our savings, college, retirement trying to stay afloat... When you are in the housing market, sometimes you go months before you have income or a pay.... It was awful.

During this time I continued to argue with hubby about me going back to college. He resisted. I wish had let me go back sooner (although it worked out in the end). Eventually at the end of our debts he let me go back I am graduating this Saturday.

So now we are slowly working our way back up, slowly trying to put back the savings and unfortunately since the last time we had health insurance it has gone up to 980 a month for the cheapest with 2500 grand deductible, one was 3 grand! At this time we simply cannot afford insurance PLUS unpaid medical bills from the 3-4 year economical crash and building our way back up.

I have watched people around me plus those online struggle the same struggle we have gone through, there are still many out there that simply cannot afford the rates.... I understand oh believe me I understand. Then you got arrogant asshats that brag how their hubby works good bucks and great heath insurance and pay only 200 a month for extra benefits and blah blah.... Ya well good for fucking you!

I recently got hired (yes got the job I wanted my ideal job) at the university as a computer specialist. I will work part time however, I will earn a little over the part time hours so I can qualify for health care benefits. After all these years me working part time and hubby busting his ass and barely having health care insurance we will finally be where others are (the employment paid health benefits). So for those that cursed me and others for not having it EFF YOU I HAVE IT NOW!

The end.

I know its hard my state was one of the states that didnt get hit as hard except the housing market it came to a stall! We were very worried for several years. It has picked up again but it can stall again in the future. My hubby's business is not dependable and based on the market. Anything can happen any day... Me getting employed is probably for the best overall. As for the income earned., some areas are higher priced... You are lucky to find a house for less than 100,000 in my state. I kid you not.

Seven years ago, when our economy crashed, we became homeless with three children and had to move 2,000 miles away from our friends and family to survive.
We have never made $75,000 a year or even $45,000 a year. Still, my husband works hard for his money and we are on our feet once again.

I know its hard but we did make some sacrifices to get where we are. Hubby had to fight to keep his business. We are in one of the states that didnt get hit hard only the housing market so that helped... But many in states where the states got hit hard, not so lucky. Hang in there, keep looking for options.

We are struggling big time right now. I'm so tired of swimming against the current.

Quoting thetrollcat:

I feel for those struggling to get out... Some are not so lucky I find it heart breaking for those people... There are many american still drowning from the effect of the economical crash some have hit the after wave of it... No one should have to struggle that way... its really sad.

Quoting elkmomma:

NICE!!!  Seriously, I'm happy for you and any one who makes it through all the crap.

How is this post different that what you complained about the "arrogant asshats" doing?

My husbands job has great benefits (company pays all premiums and half of our deductible). That doesn't mean that we have worked any less hard than your family. We worked hard and he has a better job. It happens. Why does that anger you so?

It depends on what area of your state you are in. It is more expensive in Billings because of its size. There are nice little towns to move to. Yes, MT didnt get hit as hard. That is why we moved from the East coast to MT.

if you had read some of the posts about the Obama care and people without health insurance, you would understand... No wait you would not because it was people like you that condemed those without it saying how they were putting their whole family at risk and ... well maybe not you but a lot like you in your situation. Ya some were really fucking rude and lacking complete undersstanding or compassion to why some simply did not have it and could not afford it. I do not lack it because I have been there. Have you>?

the wage pay in Montana is low.... You are lucky if you get a good paying job anywhere in Montana. Montana is an expensive state to live in when the wage pay is low. I know I have lived in montana all my life. We watch people come and go all the time... We see it in the housing market.

It also explains our population rate, it never increases and stays....

Maybe so for Billings but there are plenty of houses under $100,000 in smaller towns. We enjoy the small town living. The only down side is you have to travel for several hours to get anywhere around here. We do have a small hospital 20 min away and grocery stores and retail but if we want to gi to bigger stores, even walmart, we have to travel. If we have to see a specialist, chances are we are going to have to drive 2 to 5 hours to get there.
