Are you in charge of doing something for your MIL for Mother's Day?

I don't think I should have to.  She's not MY mom.  She doesn't ever mail gifts for our kids birthdays and she never calls to talk to them (or me) or skypes with them or me.   I just don't want to do it this year.  If hubs wants her to have something, he can mail it to her.  Anyone else feet his way?

I feel completely the opposite.  My MIL is the reason I have a wonderful husband and honoring her on Mother's day is my pleasure.  We don't see eye to eye on everything and she doesn't send gifts or Skype with us either, but I don't care.  Showing her love is about my character and my appreciation for the woman who raised him to be the man he is today.

we just use the "we aren't like that" and "we don't really celebrate anything other than christmas and the kids b-days" so neither of us are obligated.

No. Even if I wanted to, (which I don't) my nieces birthday is the 12th and mine is the 14th. So, we combine all three holidays- MIL is not included.
SO can set something up with her if he wants.

Sort of we are placing a flower bouquet on her grave.

its his mom, its his job. I remind him and if he asks for my opinion I give it.
