dog bite and 104 fever....

My 3 yr old was bit by a dog yesterday, had to get 6 stitches.. and was sedated with ketamine.. that right there makes for a horrible day... and then he started throwing up and running a high fever... ER thinks he has a stomach virus on  top of everything else... great since he is supposed to be taking augmetum for the dog bite.. which I need to give to him with food.. well food doesn't stay down with a stomach virus.. and he is running 104 fever... and I cannot give him more motrin for another 30 min  which I would like to do to help lower his fever and help with the pain from the ketamine shot....

really... talk about a really crappy day for him.  And I have to drag him out of bed at 8 am to take him straight to our ped....

104 seems really high. I'd call your clinics on call just to check. Why risk it, ya know?

What happened to the dog?

That's some strong shit for a 3 yr old.
You can give him rectal Tylenol to help lower his fever. If you can't get his temp down, or get his antibiotics in him, I would go to the er. They can give him an Iv with meds in it.

At least his fever isn't from an infection?
Poor little man!
