This is the Chore contract we made up to start with our 8 yr old. Do you feel it is to much, not enough, or just right- and she is perfectly capable of doing ALL OF THEM!

This contract cites the household responsibilities for which XXX will be responsible and the frequency they are to be performed.

Responsibilities

It shall be XXX’s responsibility to complete the following tasks according to the frequency indicated:

1. Dust her room once a week.

2. Make her bed every day before leaving for school.

3. Sweep the Kitchen every night after dinner

4. Feed the dog daily by 5pm

5. Vacuum the living room and dining room every Saturday (when here)

6. Keep her room clean daily

Compensation

The Parents will pay an allowance of 15 dollars on the 1st and 15th of every month and 1 dollar will be deducted for every chore not completed or poorly completed

Sounds reasonable. We don't do allowance though. I mean, when he's an adult he wont be paid for it. But we do spend money on him. He isn't lacking anything.

If that works for you.

In my house #s 1, 2, and 6 are all expected responsibilities, not chores. But this is how it's always been for my kids, who are 8 and 10.

Lol I'm laughing Because it is almost identical to our eight-year-old daughters list of chores and it is the exact amount she gets and we also deduct for poorly done chores

seems reasonable.  my 7 yo does more chores than that, though.  we also don't pay allowance.  i know a lot of people do, but to me, it just seems that cleaning your own room shouldn't earn a paycheck.
