Is your DH handy?

Mine is. I grew with a father who was handy, and always said I had to marry a man who was handy as well. Although, I really got lucky with him.

My DH can do plumbing, minor electrical, dry wall, flooring, siding, roofing, can fix anything on a car and many other things. We never have to call anyone to fix things, and have never put our car in the shop.

Yes, he is a very quick study and when he does a project once, can do it again. He may take a little longer to get things done but he always makes sure to do things right the first time so he doesn;t have to re-do it.

Yes and no.

He can't really do that stuff now.

My dad is our "handy man".

Yes, he is very handy, as the oldest son, he grew up helping his father around the house with just about everything, including building their family home from the ground up, so he can do just about everything. The problem is usually him finding time to do it!

My hubby can barely hammer a nail.  He's useless in that department.

He better be. He's in maintenance at a nuclear tech plant. He's an electrician. He can do everything and honestly amazes me when he can fix things that I assumed were trash.

I joke that he's just like my dad (like our roles in marriage are the same as my parents). Today I opened the door to his truck to kiss him and I had an immediate flashback of my dad when I was a young girl. I said, "Oh MY! Your truck smells just like my dads!" He just laughed. He was heading to work...at the same place my dad used to work.
