WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP-AP) - Two Westfield residents have been charged with turning a 14-year-old girl they knew into their sex slave, raping her and using her to create pornography.
Nathaniel Justin Lami and Leonne Anne Vieu were both ordered held on bail at their arraignment Tuesday on charges including aggravated rape of a child, lascivious posing or exhibiting of a child in the nude, distribution of a live performance of obscene matter, indecent assault and battery.
Prosecutors say the girl knew both defendants and considered the 31-year-old Lami "a big brother figure."
Lami was held on $25,000 bail and Vieu on $5,000 bail.
Our media partner, The Westfield News, reports that among evidence seized from the defendants' Colonial Pine Acres apartment was a "sex slave contract."
newspaper reports that in court Tuesday, prosecutor Mary Partyka said
that Lami used a scalpel-like instrument to cut the girl on her back,
and then licked the blood from her wounds.
22News spoke Wednesday with Caitlyn Lami, Nathaniel Lami's sister. She said that she and her family are shocked by the allegations, and things are particularly hard on her mother.
"A lot of it doesn't make sense yet. I'm not defending him, I'm not saying it was not true, there is a lot of evidence. I'm just saying court did not happen yet and people are just blowing it up right now, and it needs to stop because it is killing my mom," she said.
"The things we heard in the courtroom (on Tuesday) were terrible, they were horrible and we were in just utter shock."
Lawyers for both defendants asked that their clients be released under conditions.
