What's the "good jobs" in your area?

a comment in another post saying a "job at the plant" wasn't a good job, got me thinking. Here, in central MO, the "good jobs" are at the plants lol. There is a metal working plant, a lawn mower plant, and Enersys that makes batteries. Those are the good jobs. So is teaching at the college. Anything else you have to drive to KC for. Hell working at they Tyson chicken plant 30 minutes away is a good job for here.

So what are the good jobs where you are

The good jobs are a couple of the factories and the power companies. Then the normal doctor, lawyer, etc

They pay good here. Better than anything here in town and will hire anyone.

I live in New Orleans. My husband is a pediatrician and I think that is a good job. Some if the best paying jobs that don't necessarily require a lot of education in this area include working offshore or at a refinery.

Most of the doctors here are young. They come for a few years to get experience, or get loans written off for working in a "rural" area, and then move on.

Around here, everybody is trying to get in on the frac'ing business. Chesapeake Energy is a big deal here in the Barnett Shale. There's also Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopter.

Secretarial jobs here in Atlanta if you don't have a degree. I consider any job that is permanent that you can live off and not struggle constantly to be a good job. If that's a plant job so be it.
