What states are better to live in?

I'm thinking about leaving South Carolina and moving to another state. Me and my daughter have been through hell these last 3 years and I want to start over, at least go some where I know we will both be happy.

So, what is the best state to live in?

It's pretty family friendly, the economy is decent, the cost of living isn't crazy. The biggest downside is that their public schools aren't the greatest. Some people will complain about the Mormons but I'm atheist and had no problems making friends when I lived there. I was in Cache Valley and Herriman. I have friends in Sandy which is pretty nice too.

I'm in SC too.  What area do you live in?  (Don't feel bad if you'd rather not answer, I'm just curious).  I've always wanted to move to the northwest. I love mild, rainy weather.  It seems so refreshing after all of this humid heat.

Are you in VA? If so, what do you like about it? We're visiting and it's GORGEOUS! I told DH I want to move here but he's not up for it, so just want to know what people who live here think.

Wisconsin.   The four seasons are beautiful; everyone is friendly.   We have a stable economy.   We were hit by the recession of 2008, but it barely made an impact.   We are known for our great school systems.

As long as it's the south I'm good. I miss south Alabama. I also like Tennessee where I live now.
