Question time! (Mostly for teachers, but please anyone reply.)
If you have a student from a divorced home. 50/50 mom and dad time.
Say, 2nd or 3rd grade.
And she comes to school with greasy, unbrushed hair. Clean clothes that don't fit right. And smelling of body odor.
So you assume she was dropped off by mom or dad that way?
What if you notice she comes in like that mon-wed, but is always clean, groomed, and properly dressed Thursday and Friday.
Which parent do you assume dropped her off which days?
EDIT to explain why I ask.
I was called into the school by my SD's teacher. (I handle school stuff because I'm a sham and DH works). I had a sit down with teacher, nurse, and principal.
She said she wanted to talk about SD's hygiene, and perhaps DH and I didn't realize that as she gets older she needs more strict bathing rules, etc.
I told the teacher I agree. When we get her from school every Wednesday she is always filthy. I have been documenting for years.
Teacher was floored, stunned, and shocked.
She said "wait, you're the Thursday and Friday custodial parent?"
I explained that DH and I get Sd every Wednesday after school until Sunday evening.
The teacher asked me to verify it. She said she always assumed that we had her on Tuesdays and Wednesdays because those were her "dirty" days.
Uhh, yeah I give her a bath right before her mom gets her Sunday, because I know she doesn't take them there. She hasn't in years.
Man I'm glad she called me in to talk before calling CPS or something... Of course I'm also pretty pusses that she would assume it was dad (well me really) that was neglecting her. SD is ver well cared for in our home. Just the same as my own DD.
