Proper names for "private parts"?

Posted by   + Show Post
Do you teach your children the proper names for their's? I've been talking to DS (3) about the other name for his "peepee". He's now in the bath yelling "penis...PENIS...PEENIS...PEEENNNIISSS!" I think this may have backfired a little lol

My MIL wanted our kids to call farting Putt-putting.   Really what adult can't handle the word fart.  give me a break.

Hahaha I dated a guy who wasnt allowed to say fart, they called it fluffing. like WTF? O.o

We use penis and vagina. I had a friend in college that called her vagina a tutu. I was not allowing that to happen.

We use proper names ( penis, testicles, vulva, breasts, nipples) as well as more "casual names." We'll call genitals "bits" and breasts "boobies" if we're not being specific.  (He still calls nursing "playing boobie" which is somewhat unfortunate in public situations...) It just depends on the situation.  Kids are smart, they can understand things have more than one name.

I teach them vagina. Not vulva, and all that jazz. Just vagina for now.

My boys both know that they have a penis. If DH and I have a girl she will know it as her vagina.

Boy parts and girl parts. We'll cover more proper names when they're older. For now I believe this is adequate. It's not like they're calling it their hoo-ha, or cookie, or something worse.
