Bible stories aren't stories

My sons reading log didn't count and he didn't get the end of the year reading treat because some of the stories he had read were Bible stories. I don't know whether to talk to his teacher or not. A story is a story and he worked really hard to get his chart full this month. His feelings are hurt and he doesn't understand why he didn't get the treat, he's 7.

I am not a believer, but reading is reading, period. Was he reading directly from the Bible?

That.... is baffling. READING IS READING.

That's ridiculous, I would say something.

I'd be talking to the teacher.

Most of my 5 year old stories she reads are from two children bibles.

The Bible isn't my thing, but I agree that reading and stories are just that. If he put in the effort, he deserves the treat. If they didn't specify reading material, then that's on them, not him.

Schools are such assholes to kids these days. And people wonder where bullies come from...half the time it's the kids who are not decently parented, the other half it's the lazy fucking teachers/administrators who just seem to enjoy crushing little kids emotionally.
