Facebook for kids.

My 10 year old daughter (soon to be 11 in August) asked me if she could have a Facebook account. She said all her friends have Facebook but her. I am very hesitant to let her have her own account. Would you let your child have an account? I am trying to weigh out the pros and cons.

hmm good question. my mom has been suggesting the same for us for my 8yr old dd. saying with all the moving this will let her keep up to date with her friends. i told her that is what pencil, paper, and envelopes are for. i am going to say probably when she hits 16. but that is just me

My son has had his since then (5th grade) but it was because of family that lived out of state. Most of his friends did have one and still have one. He is now in Jr high(almost 13 and going in to 8th) and it has never been a problem. He has rules and they have been followed. He must friend me and his dad. He must be midful of what he posts on there. Any sign of him bullying or picking on anyone else and its deleted. I have all the info and randomly check it. He is also not allowed to add anyone but family and friends from school or church stuff.
