What is it and how are they affected by it? Is one worse than the other?

What caused it?

Clubfoot.  Both boys had it just in the left foot.  It does not bother my oldest ds but my youngest is still in the correcting phase, so he has to wear a brace daily.

They say its genetic.  Dh and I both had clubfoot as well.

Had? Honestly I don't know much about clubfoot so does it correct itself over time or is it something you need to have surgically corrected?

Both of my kids have the exact same, rare, amino acid deficiency. It was a 25% chance each time.

Do you have any children without this? What is the possibility of any future children having it? Will you have more?

Well, yes and no.  During infancy, they manipulate and correct the foot with casts, then corrective shoes and sometimes surgery.  I was fortunate enough to just need the casts and corrective shoes, no relapse.  Dh had many casts and surgeries until he was 4 or 5.  He had 13 total surgeries and his feet are still pretty bad.  He walks on the outsides of his feet.

The chance for relapse is there, so annual checks happen with an orthopedic specialist.  Ds (7) his foot does curve in a little, but the dr isn't concerned because the function of the foot isn't affected.
