Though i admit that i have been guilty not caring enough to write the correct one. Same this with There, their, and they're, Then and than, ect.

Yes, your is possessive, like "your car" or "your house", while you're is a contraction of you are, like "you're going to the store" or "you're fast."

Your is possessive, You're is a contraction that stands for You Are.
