popcorn,
chips and salsa or dip,
celery,
apples,
carrots,
bananas,
yogurt,
oranges,
cookies,
marshmallows,
breakfast bars,
cheese sticks,

fries,
fried carrots,
rolls and olive oil with green olives and a white cheese,
muffins... that's all I can think of right now.
I grew up on boxed mac and Cheese. My daughter LOVES any kind of mac and cheese. When my dh can, he makes this delicious homemade cheese sauce... mmmm...

They aren't allowed just means that they aren't allowed to be stockpiled in the house as a snack food. Those items are treats and we use them as such. You have to understand that I live in a home with 2 blended families. My friends 2 boys will live off of candy and potato chips alone if the have access too them (when she was still married to their father his sister would bring over grocery bags of candy and crap that the kids would hide and devour within a few days time). So it is something to use as a treat or reward but not to keep around the house. They still get these items but only in moderation.

They are not allowed? How do you make sure kids arent eating that stuff when you arent around? They are gonna have some major food complexes....

I do things like fresh fruits and veggies, yogurt, dried fruits, low sugar or sugar free nesquick for chocolate milk, no sugar pudding or jello, nuts, jerky. I'm looking into getting a dehydrator so I can make sugar free fruit roll ups. Sometimes I do smoothies or home made muffins.

I was raised poorly and allowed lots of junk foods and soda at a young age, I decided to be a better parent then that, however, when I started out I did make lots of healthy food mistakes.

Some people don't do grains. I have no problem with homemade macaroni and cheese, personally.

The ladies who said they would never ever feed their kids mac and cheese are just straight out lying....or crazy? Just trying to make themselves sound good to complete strangers.

Did they mean boxed mac and cheese or just mac and cheese in general? I sometimes make home made mac and cheese, which can be made healthy, my daughter loves it.
