Toys in the living area?

I'm pretty sure my mom has forgotten what it is like to have little kids. Every time she comes over she is trying to hide the evidence of my kids. Lol

She tries to send all their toys to their room. It drives me batty.

Now my living areas are not covered in toys. But I don't mind if my sons pillow pet is on the couch or their is a stack of library books stacked neatly on the end table.

Again I don't keep my house messy or cluttered with toys, but I don't see the need in hiding all the kids toys. In fact I feel that leaving some toys out in the open shows that my house is kid friendly and gives it a warm and inviting feeling.

Do you allow toys in your living areas?

Mine is COVERED in toys.  I have a small house and my DS has many many toys.  There is no room for it all.

Yeah I know, I spoil him a bit.

The neat freak in me says no!! But I'm guilty of letting my girls play in the living room, however, before dinner all toys were put away in their proper place.

Same here. I don't mind if there is a toy or two left in the living room, but for the most part, her toys live in her room.

yes he is allowed to bring some toys down into the family room but I make him take them back to his toy room at the end of the day (usually)

there used to be certain toys that stayed in the family room.

not anymore, but only because he really does not play with toys anymore

They have their own play room downstairs, the foyer. But their toys can get everywhere, as long as they get put back, I'm ok with that...
