Why the sudden trend of home schooling over public schooling?

I prefer public for a few reasons:

those teachers went to college to learn how to teach my child,

Why deny a child the experience of elemetary school? bus rides, best friends, class performances, field trips with classmates without Mommy around

Gives the child a break from home, and sets them on a schedule

Lets them learn and practice Social skills

I'm not bashing home schooling parents, was just curious on why?

I have two older sisters, both with 7yr old daughters one who sent her kid to public school, and the other one homeschools her daughter.

It seems to me that the one in regular school is much more social and a better reader, the homeschooled one is also very smart, but is very shy and doesnt like to talk to anyone.

At what age/grade do you home schoolers plan to home school till?

what is your opinion?

The public school system was mistreating my Son. After 2 yrs of homeschooling he is back in public school in another State and doing great. When they won't stop abuse, and abuse as well it is time to gtfo.

No comment.  I already tried this once.  It went nowhere.

By the way, I agree with you.  But, that's all I'm going to say.

It isn't a sudden trend. It's been the norm for the majority of human history

I would homeschool and I might homeschool.  There are a lot of factors that will go into that decision.   There are many tools for homeschooling moms so I think my kiddos would be just fine if we decided that's the road we wanted to travel.   My daughter in particular has a lot of issues with public school.  She is barely getting through because of her issues.  I am considering it for her.  We are going to try one more year at her public school and see how it goes... unless something happens this summer that makes me change my mind and decide to keep her home next school year.
