Normal for your area?

A friend recently moved to a different state and she took her son in for a well-baby check. She had a specific question about a health issue. The doctor took a quick look and discussed it with her. When the billing came she was cahrged a second office visit for the question she asked. When she called the office about it today they told her that anything other than typical well-baby stuff (weight/height/development) would be charged as a secondary visit. She was also told that this was a common practice among pediatricians. It sounds absurd to me, but our family only has a PCP, not a specific pediatrician.

Is this how it is at your pediatrician's office?

No, I can't imagine my asking a question would mean another bill.

No, I've asked questions at a well child and have never been charged for an additional visit.

Questions were included in the well visit. That is rediculous.

I would be choosing a new doctor. That's a bit much.

I had a family Dr not a pedi. Looks like i'm glad I did. Not only did I have a wonderful Dr, he didn't charge me for every question I asked. I'd have gone broke!

Da fuq? No. Get a different doctor, he's a money grubbing ass if he allows that.
