Contemplating getting CPS involved

This might be a bit confusing so ill try to make it as clear as I can.

My cousin is 40ish and has 2 step children and two bio kids.

The step kid ill be talking about is 17 or 18 with 2 kids of her own the youngest 4-5 months the oldest is 2ish.

This girl has true mental problems. She's on medication and right now is in the hospital getting her meds checked. She doesn't have a job and lives off whoever she can and she steals so she's never in one place very long.

Her mother has never been in the picture. My cousin has raised her and she's not a good mother. She medicates all the kids because she doesn't want to deal with them. One of her kids doesn't have a bed. Dog shit and roaches on the floor. CPS has been called numerous times over the last 18 years and always threatens to take the kids but never does. She lives off every government program she can from food stamps to disability pay.

The two kids are with my cousin while their mother is in a mental hospital. She had to call my grandmother to buy diapers and food for the kids because she didn't have the money.

I'm tempted to let CPS know my cousin has those kids but I don't know how CPS works. The fatherS of the kids aren't in the picture but I thought if you handed your kids to someone under those circumstances they had to be competent.

So will CPS do anything if I call?

Well it can't hurt to call, even if they don't do anything.

BUMP

So everyone thinks I should call? No one thinks I should let it go?

Call and let them know that you think the situation is dangerous. With Feces hanging around that should get them moving. I would know, I've done it to my mother before over my neice and nephew.

I would call; they're the only ones that can truly help.
