If you do the tooth fairy thing how much do you leave?

My son just lost his first tooth today. I was thinking 5 bucks. Is that the norm?

**edit~ well the tooth fairy came last night :) She left a five dollar bill that was covered in glitter along with a letter(printed from the internet) saying thanks.

I decided to give him 5 bucks because he has a serious lego habit and they are expensive. Giving a dollar will not begin to cover the new superman lego set he has his eyes on.

thanks for all your input!

Every time I say how much, people freak out. We do $20 for the first and $5 for each additional.

My 7yo got one of his teeth pulled today. I feel like I should give him more. Lol. The first tooth I gave $5 and each tooth after I've left about $3.

jesus h. christ. I got 50 cents growing up.

I will probably give my kids a dollar. And then take them to Dollar Tree and let them get something. Or add it to their piggy bank. I just don't think they need so much money for something they didn't do-biology did lol.   :)

We vary it each time. This explains how kids get different amounts when their friends say how much they got.

$5 for the first tooth(and thanks to my dad the Tooth Fairy pays double on Holidays LOL)

$1 for each subsequent tooth.
