Rub-a-dub-dub, thanks a lot for the motherfuckin' grub!
the prayer I said for the first 19 years of my life (before I moved out) was "thank you God for this good food, Amen"
if we REALLY wanted to make my mom's blood boil, we left out the word "good"
there were a few occasions where she said "Fine! No prayer today! God doesn't appreciate how you act!" lol
my son says "Thank you God for the (fill in whatever we are eating or sometimes something made up), Amen" we're not very formal with it....
My children have their own prayers. We aren't Christian, and not all four of our kids pray, our daughter is very interested in learning my religion. Other than that, our children can do what they please, religion is their choice.
am I the only one who found this prayer slightly unnerving as a child?:
Now I lay me down to sleep.I pray the Lord my soul to Keep.
And if I die before I wake,I pray the Lord my soul to take.
I used to not want to say it for fear of jynxing myself.
My mom actually discouraged me from saying that, growing up. Her reasoning was because I had already asked God to save me, I had accepted Him (etc etc) and there wasn't any question of where I'd go if I was to die. So the prayer, I guess, was unnecessary to her.
Looking back, I never understood, but now I get what she was saying lol
dh's grandma sent our son a pillow that has a creepy child voice saying that prayer. It "accidentally got wet" and doesn't work. It was creepy.

Quoting MIA0223:Most recent pic I have of DD praying :)
She prays with me a few times a day.
She blesses before she eats and thanks God after.
Same before she goes to sleep and when she wakes.
