This was caught in the James river in Virginia my my husbands friend they think its an eel.But I'm not sure.I always thought eels were a saltwater fish.

Looks like an eel to me. There are freshwater eels.

do you have a close up of the head? it looks like it has two tiny legs. which makes me think siren salamander.

No my husband sent me this pic only one I have he's in Virginia and we live in Alabama
