To declaw or not declaw

We acquired a kitten recently. I have always been so against declawing, but I have a 5 year old and a 15 month old. This cat is CRAZY. It attacks the baby as she walks by and climbs the curtains. I'm scared she's gonna bring blood and destroy my furniture :(

It's like cutting your fingertips off to the first knuckle.

It's inhumane and fucking cruel.

I wouldn't do it. Have you tried giving it toys, scratching posts with catnip, playing with it, that kind of thing?

Don't do it.
1. It's a cat defense system. What if kitty got out and had to defend itself?
2. It's painful for a cat.
3. It's cruel.

I declawed both of mine.  They still show clear preference to me over my husband who took no part in it since he was deployed.  Do what you think is best for your family.
