a friend posted this on fb. it's a legitimate question...makes me curious. Anyone have an intelligent, non rude response?

"Why are non-believers always so quick to credit God with tragedy and devastation, yet refuse to acknowledge His existence in the good times?"

ETA: i think many of you have mistaken this for an attack on atheism...
I wouldn't necessarily single atheism out on this topic. non believer is anyone who does not believe that God is the one true God... those who follow buddha, allah, harry Krishna, or whatever other god or goddess one would believe in rather than Jesus Christ as the One true Saviour... etc. sorry that you disagree on the legitimacy of the question but it is on that many ask

umm ive never done that. ive never seen an atheist blame god for anything because they dont believe in a god to blame .

I think non believers tend to ask the "if God were real why would this happen" question as a way of proving that there isn't a God. Because to their mind if there was all these tragedies wouldn't occur.  I have never heard a real nonbeliever say that God was at fault for something.
