if you found a brand new $600 smart phone and gave it back to it's rightful owner when they called the phone?  just curious,  I would definitely give a small reward (20 bucks or so)

Absolutely not. Being a good honest person doesn't require a reward.

My son found a iphone4 when the first came out at the mall. He went called the last person they had talked to and told them he had found the phone. It was the ladys husband. They came and met him and got the phone but only said thank you. He did not expect anything in return.

I've found a phone and gave it back and have had a phone returned to me no rewards either time and none were expected. Simple act of kindness and karma

No I wouldn't expect anything and as a reward I would give them a big thank you and let them know how much that means to me. I think part of the problem with people today is they expect something for everything and won't ever help anyone if they aren't getting anything out of it. They've stopped feeling empathy and giving a crap about how others feel, instead they simply think "what can I get out of this."
